Reports are coming in from Iran that one of the most used VPN protocol that is Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) has been blocked today i.e. 29th September, 2011.
However, L2TP VPN Protocol was blocked two weeks back. Iran is a country with extremely tight policy on internet and censors everything possible to create an all famous Halal Internet or Ethernet as Iranians call it.
It was already impossible for Iranians to buy VPN due to USA international sanctions on Iran, which made it extremely difficult for Iranians to buy VPN from any US registered company. In fact many of the VPN providers and payments processors do not accept payments from Iran as it is a US Sanctioned Country.
Netizens in Iran have protested the act of Internet Censorship in Iran on all forums (majorly Iranian) and are of opinion that this hinders their progress and violates their basic right to freedom and information.
Almost all major websites, social networks, international news websites and video streaming websites are all blocked in Iran. In addition we regularly see closure of local sites that write against the censorship and government. In fact many bloggers had to go to jail for saying things against Iran, its censorship and its government.
Affluent netizens in Iran used to buy VPN to bypass the censorship, but it seemslike China, Iran has also opted to block the PPTP and L2TP VPN protocols. It is extremely easy to block PPTP and L2TP VPN Protocols as the traffic through these protocol flows on dedicated ports (which can not be changed) and those ports can easily be blocked. However, according to the reports SSTP remains unstable. One of the VPN provider is of the view that Iran might be doing “Packet Header Inspection” in case of SSTP, as it is impossible to block SSTP without blocking all the traffic flowing on HTTPS port.

Moreover, circumvention tools like Tor, Ultrasurf and Freedom are still working but are very unstable and giving frequent disconnections.

Why do people think Iran has suddenly banned all these protocols?
It is all related tothe 3,000 billion embezzlement scandal in Iran. It is such a big historical scandal for them (Sepah + Ahmadinejad) and they want to block Iranian people from getting any news from international websites and social networks.
They have done this before during the election conflicts two years ago.
And since Sepah is controlling the entire Internet in Iran, this proves that they are also involved in this big scandal.
Sorry for Islam, sorry for myself, and sorry for all Iranian people that are behaved like this.
And sorry for the American assholes that not only do nothing for Iranian people, but also impose more sanctions on them.

yet i do not dislike my country, i do not disrespect it, i do not treat it with foul language,
no i do not like sepahi or bassiji, the sort that we see them know popping up like…
